When should I buy my Prom Dress?

Each year Prom season starts earlier and earlier, Dresses will be arriving at Crystal Boutique as from November. Prom Season 2016 is just around the corner with the majority of proms being held in June and July 2016 it’s closer then you think!

So the questions is; when is the right time to buy your prom dress? Well if only it was that easy, do you buy early on in the year or do you leave it a little later?

Well we have made it that little bit easier for you and weighed up both the advantages and disadvantages of both below:

Buying early (Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, March)

+ A wide choice of collections, styles and colours available 

+ Less alteration costs, as you can order the prom dress in your size 

+ Availability of seamstresses to make alterations 

+ More time to concentrate on your exams, not distracted by buying your prom dress

–  The chance that someone in your school may buy the same prom dress later in the year

Buying later (April, May, June):

+ You know what prom dresses your friends have, so you can make sure you don’t clash

– Less choice, as June gets closer shops begin to run out of stock

– Availability of seamstresses to make alterations (they get very busy!)

– Not being able to order the right size prom dress, many suppliers stop taking orders from March onwards 

– The possibility that your dream prom dress has already been sold to someone else

– Exams and revision

As you can clearly see the truth is, the best time to buy your prom dress is earlier rather then later. The longer you wait the more chance there is of you not finding the special dress or your friend buying that dress you were holding out for.
